Misc:
The release mechanism is ingenious and I was very glad I checked it out; hidden inside was a hardware store bolt. It may have worked but I prefer the aircraft quality. Surprisingly I did find a number of hardware quality bolts throughtout the glider. Maupin confuses me in recommending their use in the airleron push rods.
Throughout the structure Maupin stresses to stay with the recommended sizes of 6061 t6 aluminum. I have however made some changes to some thicknesses, noteably in the axle plates. I have had a lot of experience with the Minibat loosing its plates in a couple of bad landings so Ive upgraded from 3/16 to 5/16 inch.
Ive added a nose wheel as recommended by Maupin, although it is located infront of the nose hook, the tow line will haveto run along one side when initially doing a hook up.
