In November of 1998, the wing came to
North Dallas at a small country airport called Aero Country. I have been flying with
Dave Hinckley and his son Chris for many years. They had a commercial glider
operation for years there and on weekends I would go out and help with demo flights and
basically give "fly for food type" help. They are very nice people.
Dave now flies for AMR Charter owned by Bombardier and is having a ball flying
VIP's all over the world. Tough life Dave!
The Wing was just pictures and bragging
rights with these guys until we put the wing together for the first time at Aero Country.
I had given the FAA two sites to carry out my 10hrs fly off and Aero Country was
the second. New Braunfels, was the first. With almost all the time flown off
we moved operations to Dallas.

Buddy & Rayford were bored one night
and decided the trailer needed some personality. Within about two hours they had the
outline of the pioneer on both sides of the trailer and the end. I have got to take
time to put the name of The Wing on the trailer and that it is a sailplane. I have
been stopped in traffic and have had people honk and ask what it is and where do I fly it.

One of the joys of owing the Wing is that
people that cannot resist walking over and asking if everything is there or did you forget
the tail? Here at Aero Country there is a beehive of acro pilots in everything from
300's to Pitts, Yak 52's, Mustangs, many warbirds from the area and tons of homebuilder in
the power world. They have all seen our gliders and do a good job of watching out
for us. We do have an acro-box across the west side of the airport so for years we
would watch Gene Soucy, and others practice for the season. Many come out of their
hangers and take a walk down to the Wing and just stop by to hanger chat. It is lot
of fun to answer questions before the flights and then to see their faces after the
flight.

Time To FLY!
