Energy Matters
Do you want a sustainable lifestyle and do not know how to get started?
First to switch your electrical provider to Bullfrog Power. (on the internet at http://www.bullfrogpower.com/. (Tollfree: 1.877.360.3464. This is very important since it is an impressive message to send to our politicians. Using Bullfrog power means that Ontario hydro must purchase the amount of electricity used by the members of bullfrog power from sources of electricity that are derived from wind turbines and hydro dams. Nuclear and coal fired plants are not allowed as a source. This directly tells the politicians that we want sustainable and renewable energy and that coal and nuclear are not an option.
The next thing one should do is insulate the home. In all of my investing there is no better return on your money. The cost of energy will keep going up at a greater pace than inflation so your return on investment will be well worth it in the long run. Inviting friends over to help can also reduce the labour cost of insulating. A rewarding home cooked meal and companionship at the end of the day is everyones reward.
Getting out of debt is also a high priority for while you have debt you will always have to work and not be able to have much flexibility in your lifes choices.
Next one must look very hard at the costs of transportation. The cost of fossil fuels will only go up at an exponential rate so one needs to have the place of work within walking distance and along with that, stores close at hand. Yes I know that everyone will say I cant do that!! My answer to that is, if you prepare now, and plan carefully you will be able to do it and there really is no alternative for there is not going to be cheaper transportation anytime soon. It is better to envision a change now, work at it slowly than to have the reality of no longer being able to afford to drive to work happen abruptly because at that point it is too late and you have no more options. And if you loose your job in the meantime? Life sure has some surprises!
