August 23, 2001. The wing root fairing is redone!@

I redid the wing root fairing to have the hat enclosed and secured by nylon screws... much better! |

right on the money! The initial empty weight CG ( with BRS installed)! this had me a little worried but again Jim has done an excellent job of the engineering. About 130 lbs! |

Everything has been fitted!.... so now to fabric and painting...... and then the flying!!! |

August 10, 2001. We started the testing of the Monarch G last night.... very impressive!

August 5/ 01. The photos from the Wing testing came back.

The 5 G test! Jeff marks the deflection, Jim watches the spar for buckling and Mike and Mat at the ready to lift the wing back up. This really had me worried despite the confidence of Jim who said it would take 10 G's.

August 3, 2001. Lots of fitting . The ailerons are on along with the elevator and the controls function. Yaw dampers are attached and we are now ready for fabric on the wings.

August 1, 2001. The 30 lb. wing passed the 3 G, 4G and 5 G tests for the maximum weight pilot, 230 lbs. with a parachute of 20 lbs.!!. I was not too worried about the 3 G test.... and a little concerned about the 4 G... .. the 5 G had me simply sweating! But it passed and I was visibly relieved ... Jim said it would actually do 10 G's.... but I'll let someone else try that!

The 5 G test ....750 lbs. for a wing weighing only 30 lbs.!!! Incredible! Here Mike holds thumbs up after we replaced the supporting horse back under the wing. We have a video and actual photographs of the wing fully loaded without supports. |

July 28, 2001. And thinking about finishing the glider its time to proof load the wings! So Mike came up with the grand idea of putting our test rig on the back of our Semi.... well with a little work the idea is now a reality! Now to get our sand bags!
