RUDDER
| 01Rudder First part I glued up was the rudder spar, just to get used to the gluing process and check out the T-88 epoxy. Ended up making up second part, since I didn't like the quality of the first. This is the second one! | ![]() |
| 02 Rudder Initial layup of top rib, bottom rib and trailing edges, on top of rudder spar. Note ply alignment jig holding top rib at proper angle to the rudder spar | ![]() |
| 03 Rudder Once initial layup dried, fit in remaining ribs as well as hinge point build-up pads. | ![]() |
| 04 Rudder edges skinned, radii sanded, awaiting hinges and hanging on fuselage. This skinning process was good training for the skarfing and clamping processes which would be necessary for the wing. I actually built the rudder after making the wings, but it is a good place to start and learn good techniques. | ![]() |
