Mat Redsell has always wanted to fly but it was not until he took up hang gliding in the early 80's that it became a reality. He made harpsichords for a number of years. Hang gliding preoccupied his mind and he then moved closer to the flying site in Hammondsport New York where he runs a magazine and mailorder business. In the early part of the 90's he took up fixed wing soaring and started his desire to have a flying wing. Mat repaired a minibat and holds the world record for the most ground skims in that craft. The lessons learned in the minbat have been a factor in joining with the experienced designer, Jim Marske. During the summer of 1997 Mat organized the SHA workshop in Elmira New York, which featured Jim Marske and flying wings. Mat then decided to combine resources with Jim managing workshops and helping develop the Marske Flying Wings. During 1997 to 1999 Mat Built an Maupin Windrose. He has built one Monarch during 1999 and has started and finished a new Monarch G in 2000. Mat has also built a carbon Monarch weighing 138 lbs in 2002 Mat completed his instructors rating in the fall of 1999. email: mat @continuo.comMike Couts, an avid RC modeler with many talents in the building and design of almost anything.
